The photo above shows twenty-seven of the physical books I read – one was borrowed from my friend and three were read on my kindle. I read them, I reviewed them – not an enormous feat to be true, thousands of book bloggers do the same thing every day. The main difference here is that I read these thirty-one books … in thirty-one days.
In truth, I didn’t really notice any pressure to begin with. It was only as I got further into the challenge when the hit count started climbing and I realised people were actually reading this that I really started feeling the pressure. It’s difficult trying to fit in a book a day and I won’t lie it’s been a fairly sleepless month but I did discover some fantastic books!
The book that surprised me most? Easily ‘Pantomime’
by Laura Lam, I don’t know why but I didn’t find the cover particularly appealing. As soon as I started reading however, I didn’t stop. It was brilliant
by Lily Herne is another one that I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it – only because I normally steer clear of anything involving zombies as they generally scare the living daylights out of me.
The one that most disappointed me was ‘Broken’
by A.E. Rought. I normally love books like that and I was just crushed by how much effort it took to finish it.
So! What now? Well, I can’t keep up the pace of a book a day – I’m fairly certain I’d be half blind by the end of the year – but I am going to keep blogging and reviewing. Two a week sounds a reasonable amount for now! I may do further challenges down the line too as I did rather enjoy this one.
If you are thinking “she’s mad! … what are the rules of the challenge again?” I will shortly add a page to the blog stating exactly how it works.
Till then, happy reading!
