In the interests of full disclosure, I’ve had this post drafted for about a week now, however, Kelly at Pub(lishing) Crawl beat me to the punch with her fab post ‘Confessions of a re-reader‘ so you should definitely go read that too!

This has been a really long, stressful week. My fiancé and I are going through the house-buying process (and if you’re wondering what it’s like…it’s just faff, huge, endless enormous amounts of faff and money), work has been quite intense and my car decided to pack in on Tuesday – THANKS CAR! So I grabbed a book and read the stress away. But I didn’t grab a new book. Oh no. I ignored my towering TBR pile and I grabbed an old one off the shelf. One I’ve read multiple times before.

I have a handful of favourites that I’ve re-read more times than I can count:

• The City Watch books from the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett (Guards, Guards; Men at Arms; Feet of Clay; Jingo; The Fifth Elephant; Night Watch; Thud; Snuff)
• The Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger (Soulless, Changeless, Heartless, Blameless, Timeless)
• You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me by Sarra Manning
• Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (OK, I’ll hold my hands up and confess: for this one I know it so well I just skip through all the parts I don’t find interesting, eg the whole Tom Bombadil section and all the song lyrics)
